A Kit Ready BOV (Bug Out Vehicle)

A Kit Ready BOV (Bug Out Vehicle)

2014-08-02 14.13.49Recently, I attended a local Jeepfest, sponsored by 4 Wheel Parts. While I always enjoy seeing the new stuff, one of the main reasons I go is to just to see what people have done to enhance their vehicles. This year was no exception.

What this outing did do however, is remind me that you should have a kit ready for your bug out vehicle, or more importantly everyday driving. What items do you have in your vehicle at all times, a spare tire or maybe a jack? What about lug wrench? After investigating my son’s car he didn’t even have those.

If that is the case, then what is recommended for an emergency car kit?

  • Jumper cables (I prefer the long ones)
  • Roadside flares
  • Two bottles of water
  • Tarp
  • Screwdriver
  • Hammer
  • Pliers
  • Duct tape
  • Blanket
  • Gloves
  • Energy bar
  • Playing cards (In case of boredom)
  • Matches
  • Knife

I am not saying this is the perfect kit, but it will do the trick in most situations. You may want to add or take away based off of your personal preferences. Ideally is set up like this would be the best thing: However, that is not always feasible and certainly not economical on gas.
